Casa Alvarez | Our Story
Real Mexican food, real recipes, over 35 years
Casa Alvarez has been cooking from scratch on Colima Road in Rowland Heights since 1991. This is a family-run kitchen built on traditional recipes — and the food has always done the talking.
A family kitchen on Colima Road
The Alvarez family has served Rowland Heights from the same Colima Road kitchen since 1991 — a straightforward commitment to real Mexican food, made the way it's meant to be made.
Recipes with a point of view
The enchilada sauce is built from 21 spices. Chile rellenos are Anaheim chiles stuffed with cheese, battered in egg, and deep-fried golden — then bathed in house sauce. Slow-cooked carnitas, chile colorado, and hand-packed tamales are made the same way they always have been.
From breakfast to dinner, every day
From machaca con huevo and coffee in the morning to weekday lunch specials and full sit-down dinners — Casa Alvarez is open for all of it, every day.

The soup that keeps people coming back
The caldo de albóndigas — hand-rolled meatballs simmered with fresh vegetables — is the kind of dish that earns a restaurant its regulars. It's been on the menu for decades, and guests still mention it by name.
